Nelson plays a cup blinder

Nelson ended its Rugby World Cup on a high at the weekend, as the biggest rugby crowd in recent history packed Trafalgar Park to witness the Wallabies' 68-22 romp over a gallant Russian side. Although an Australian victory was never in doubt, the sellout crowd of 16,307 supported both teams, roaring with approval on the three occasions the Bears managed to score.

Irish ride wave of support to beat Russia

ROTORUA, 25 Sept. - The green army was once again out in force to watch Ireland defeat Russia 62-12 at Rotorua International Stadium on Sunday. A capacity crowd of 25,661 mostly Irish fans - a sprinkling of vocal Russians still made their presence felt - cheered their team to a nine-tries-to-two victory in the Pool C match on Sunday.

Russians ready to cheer their team

The Morgoun boys have already been putting in some cheering practice for when they watch their home country Russia take on Italy at Trafalgar Park tonight. The family had signed up for Sky Sport five minutes before Russia's debut Rugby World Cup game against the United States in New Plymouth last week, and Petr, 17, Aleksandr, 16, and 12-year-old Misha Morgoun spent the evening yelling at the television as the US Eagles beat Russia's Bears 13-6.
